Happy Birthday Camaro: Celebrating 45 Years of Muscle!

Posted by Thunder Racing | 09/29/11 | Tagged News & Updates

Old Camaro and new CamaroForty-five years ago today, on September 29th, 1966, Chevrolet’s new pony car the Camaro went on sale in dealerships all across the country.  Designed to rival Ford’s success with the Mustang, the Camaro immediately became an iconic part of Chevrolet’s history.

From the 1967 Z/28s, to the monster all aluminum 427 c.i. ZL1s, to the upcoming modern supercharged ZL1 Camaro, Chevrolet has constantly been pushing the envelope in pony car performance.  While the Camaro certainly missed a few model years, no one could ever claim that it was ever forgotten.  Even the Mustang guys have to give a nod to the car whose competition helped push Ford to up the horsepower on the Mustang.

Thunder Racing’s success has been in no small part due to the success of the Camaro.  So here’s to the Camaro!  We hope to have you around for another forty-five!

P.S. What’s your favorite Camaro model/memory?  Let us know in the comments!

This past weekend’s Streetcar Shootout at State Capitol Raceway was once again a success!  The weather was beautiful and everyone seemed to have a great time.

For the second time in a row, Thunder Racing took “Top Shop” honors with the most cars represented at the event.  Our own tech, Donald, also took first place in the late model naturally aspirated class, running consistent 10.90 passes all day.

Enjoy the pictures and we hope to see you there next time!

Same Old Dog Redux

Bulldog named Thunder in front of a gorgeous 1968 Camaro Many of you have seen our t-shirts sporting a bulldog posed over a 2010 Camaro and the catch phrase, “Same old dog, all new TRicks!” Imagine our delight when we received this image from a customer named Bob and his bulldog Thunder posed in front of his gorgeous 1968 Camaro, while his 2010 Camaro rests snug in the garage in the background. We loved this photo so much we just had to share it with everyone else. Many thanks to Bob and Thunder for taking the time to set this up and allowing us to post it up for everyone to see!

We Will Never Forget.

Posted by Thunder Racing | 09/10/10 | Tagged News & Updates

On Monday we emailed jokes.
On Tuesday we did not.

On Monday we thought that we were secure.
On Tuesday we learned better.

On Monday we were talking about heroes as being athletes.
On Tuesday we relearned who our heroes are.

On Monday we were irritated that our rebate checks had not arrived.
On Tuesday we gave money away to people we had never met.

On Monday there were people fighting against praying in schools.
On Tuesday you would have been hard pressed to find a school where someone was not praying.

On Monday people argued with their kids about picking up their room.
On Tuesday the same people could not get home fast enough to hug their kids.

On Monday people were upset that they had to wait 6 minutes in a fast food drive through line.
On Tuesday people didn’t care about waiting up to 6 hours to give blood for the dying.

On Monday we waved our flags signifying our cultural diversity.
On Tuesday we waved only the American flag.

On Monday there were people trying to separate each other by race, sex, color and creed.
On Tuesday they were all holding hands.

On Monday we were men or women, black or white, old or young, rich or poor, gay or straight, Christian or non-Christian.
On Tuesday we were Americans.

On Monday politicians argued about budget surpluses.
On Tuesday grief stricken they sang ‘God Bless America’.

On Monday the President was going to Florida to read to children.
On Tuesday he returned to Washington to protect our children.

On Monday we had families.
On Tuesday we had orphans.

On Monday people went to work as usual,
On Tuesday they died.

On Monday people were fighting the 10 commandments on government property.
On Tuesday the same people all said ‘God help us all’ while thinking ‘Thou shall not kill’.

It is sadly ironic how it takes horrific events to place things into perspective, but it has. The lessons learned this week, the things we have taken for granted, the things that have been forgotten or overlooked, hopefully will never be forgotten again.
